CEO Bob DiPetrillo, Advant Medical

Advant Medical recently marked 25 years in business and there was plenty to celebrate, the company has become a global partner for Class I, II and III Medical Device development and manufacturing solutions. In fact, last year the business was awarded the prestigious Boston Scientific Supplier Achievement Award 2018.

It was recognised for exceptional performance, being short-listed from over 900 companies across the globe. The awards recognise the contribution partner suppliers have made in areas such as quality, commercial excellence, operational excellence and technological innovation.

Bob DiPetrillo, CEO, Advant Medical was delighted to accept the award, saying “We are very proud that Boston Scientific has selected Advant from a field of over 900 suppliers to receive their 2018 Supplier Achievement Award, which recognises excellence among their extensive supplier network.”

But how has the business forged such a strong relationship with a major player like Boston Scientific and what should other contract manufacturing organisations (CMO) learn from Advant Medical?

If you’re interested in hearing what Bob has to say, then you’ll want to come along to Medtech Rising this year. Bob is  contributing to the panel session on Day 2, Partnering in the World of Solutions, 1.30pm to 3pm.

Secrets to Partnering Success

There’s a lot to be learnt from the approach Advant Medical has taken to forging long-term relationships. First-up it offers a comprehensive and integrated, turnkey approach including several different services, ranging from 3D printing, product development and contract manufacturing through to packaging. The company has committed to offering a “single-source solution” and as a result it has continued to build on its capabilities over the last 26 years. This has also included a comprehensive supply chain management solution for clients.

In terms of differentiating itself, the company puts an emphasis on three aspects of their service for clients: quality, on-time delivery and customer service. Also, there has been heavy investment in the facilities over the years, culminating recently with the addition of a 2,500 sq. ft Class 8 clean room at the Galway facility and a further 2,300 sq. ft class 8 clean room at the facility in Costa Rica.

Global Medtech Ambition

Indeed, having overseas facilities was seen as essential to becoming a partner of choice for multi-nationals into the future. As Bob said recently, “Over the years, we grew to realise that we needed to develop operations outside of Ireland to support the worldwide demand.”

The business strategy followed this thinking and in 2010 Advant partnered with a manufacturing company in Reynosa, Mexico. Then two years ago Advant invested in developing the manufacturing facility in Costa Rica. These investments have borne fruit financially and the business now employs over 200 people.

Medtech Rising will give you the unique opportunity to learn from Bob’s 38 years of medical device industry experience, first-hand.
