Dr. Siobhan Roche, Director of Science for the Economy at the Science Foundation of Ireland (SFI)

As Director of Science for the Economy at Science Foundation Ireland, Siobhan leads the Foundation’s strategic objectives focused on collaborative research initiatives between academia and enterprise, which includes establishment of a network of internationally leading SFI Research Centres and bespoke enterprise partnerships.

Siobhan holds a B.A. Mod in Genetics from Trinity College Dublin and a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California at Berkeley (USA). Prior to moving to Science Foundation Ireland, she worked as a research scientist in both the private sector and in third level research, focussing on the application of genetics and genomics technology to deciphering the biological causes of illnesses such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and mental health disorders.  Siobhan has authored publications in leading, peer-reviewed journals and holds several international patents.
